MILITARY SPOUSE TAG

I saw this really "Different" tag on youtube and other blogs and because I am a "Military Wife" I thought I would do this :D

 1) How did you and your spouse meet?

We met through a common friend not as potential "dating" candidates, but just as friends.

2) How old were you when you two met?

I was 20 yrs old and he was 22

3) How long have you been together?

We were friends for 3 years and then we took it to the next level of being bf & gf and now I am his "wifeyyyy" :D

4) Where are you and your spouse originally from?

We both are from Kerala. I am from Kottayam and he is from Calicut

 5) How did you feel about him joining the military?

Well, I had NO choice in the matter as he was already in the Indian Navy when we first met.

6) Where did your spouse go to Basic Training?

I think he went to Orissa ( I hope I am correct...gotta ask him again)

 7) Has your spouse ever been deployed?

Nope. Not yet. The kargil war occurred before he joined Military, so ....NO.

8) Ever been to his promotion ceremony?

No. Not yet. I hope to when he gets his promotion next

 9) How long have you been a military wife?

2 Years now and its been hard.....

 10) Did you marry him before or after he joined?

After he joined the Navy

 11) How did your husband propose?

Ok......this is weird......he proposed to me the first day we MET!!!!! I know......I thought that its ridiculous. He was really serious and asked me "Will you marry me?". I thought it was some kind of prank and I laughed it off and till date he says he was hurt real bad but didn't show it and claims that he knew  that day itself that he would marry me eventually.....WEIRD.....But Romantic :D

12) Where did you get married?

We got married at Guruvayoor Temple.

 13) How old were you two when you got married?

I was 26 and he was 28 yrs old

 14) Did he wear his uniform on his wedding day?

No. I don't think anyone in India wears their uniform on their wedding day(plz feel free to correct me if I am wrong)

15) Where are you and your spouse currently stationed?

He is stationed right now at Mumbai

16) Do you live on base?

We got our own quarters just now. So I will be joining him at base really soon.

17) How long were you married when you had to go through your first separation?

Well, its an On-Off thing. He is in the "Submarine Cadre". So, when they go for submarine related exercises they go away for weeks together and it has been happening quite a lot. So, I can't say as to when it started and how many times he has gone for sailing....

18) What is your favorite base so far?

I have only been to Mumbai, but my husband would like vizag as life is a lot more peaceful there.

19) Do you think your spouse looks good in his uniform?

Ofcourse Ofcourse Ofcourse!!! I think that any man or woman in uniform has a special something to them which is honestly UN-describable.

20) Do you think military life is more advanced than civilian life?

Not exactly. But we do get everything inside the base itself. Its quite a township. But emotionally I think the military life is much too hard on families.

21) Do you like the benefits you receive as a military dependent?

Yes I do. We get a lot of concession when we are travelling, let it be via road, air or rail. The grocery rate is also low when we buy from canteen and eventually when we have children it will be easy for them to get into schools and they have a great chance for good education. More than all this there is definitely a certain amount of respect that I receive when people come to know that I am a military wife.

22) Do you have a lot of military wife friends?

No. I only had one friend, she is elder to me and she too is a doctor, but right now her husband got transferred to Vizag, so when I go to Mumbai this time she won't be there :(

23) What is the hardest part of the military life?

Being the loving-supportive family member....even when I don't want to understand I am forced to understand certain things about my husband's duties which a civilian can NEVER understand. Everyone tries to pacify and make things allright but its NEVER allright. At the same time I am proud that my husband is serving the nation and its truly a calling that only some people can muster up the courage to do.The constant & unexpected transfers are also a problem.

 24) Do you own military wife stuff?

Well, If owning some of my hubby's training time old badges count...then yes.

 25) Do you support your spouse as a member of the military?

Yes! 100%. I do love my country but I don't think personally I have the tough heart to join the defence to honour my country. I am extremely proud and happy that my husband is doing his part to serve the country. At the same time I do feel emotionally drained when I can't be with my hubby whenever I want to and that he is not doing a 9-5 job like others......but serving the nation is a true calling that everyone can't fulfill so I do support him completely.

I hope all you guys enjoyed reading this tag as much as I loved doing it.

Are you a military wife???????? Then THIS is a tag that you have to do.
