THE SENSATIONAL GRAND FINALE BY ACE DESIGNER TARUN TAHILIANI ENDED THE SECOND EDITION OF THE AAMBY VALLEY INDIA BRIDAL WEEK 2011 WITH HIS SUPERB ARTISANAL COLLECTION
It was one of the most impressive Grand Finales seen in Mumbai as 55 gorgeous models appeared in stunning creations from one of Indias top designers. Known as the Emperor of Bridal Haute Couture, Tarun Tahiliani has dressed the global celebrities who have paraded his creations at their weddings as well as social events.
The pioneer of the first fashion house, Ensemble, in India in 1987, Taruns collections have been displayed in the fashion capitals of the world to applauding audiences. Giving a complete package to men and women, Tarun has everything that the wedding couple can dream of.
His stunning collection called Artisanal that ended the second Aamby Valley India Bridal Week 2011 revealed a brilliant study of the best textiles, embellishments, jewels, stones and craft techniques. The structured drapes, the exquisite sharply cut silhouettes, along with the mix of Indian expertise and western layering gave the collection that awesome look.
The mens and womens collections revealed the grandeur and beauty of Taruns creativity as the models walked down the 90 ft. runway in the circular giant atrium at the exotic Tropical Lagoon of the Sahara Star Hotel which was the perfect arrangement to enable the audience to get a close look at the lovely ensembles.
The backdrop of the Grand Finale was an architectural Gothic marvel of imposing arches and spires through which the models glided down and displayed the creative genius of one of Indias top couturiers.
Opening the show with soft nude toned pastels, Tarun had a satin gown with side net drapes and soon it was sari gowns, crystal cholis and layered net lehengas, will-power slinky long creations that did justice to Rachels beauty while more with flouncy hemlines followed with embroidered godets.
The sequin sheeted sari in beige, the old rose empire line anarkalis, the ivory net sari with a peach petticoat and stringy choli created magic on the ramp. Whites came in with shades of pink and violet for fully encrusted knee length kurtas with belted dupattas covered with silver and crystals.
There was a touch of western chic with magenta satin draped sari gowns, the red ornate lehenga with a sleeveless embellished lace gilet and the gorgeous silver one-button waistcoat over a pre-stitched sari modelled by Binal which was an interesting innovation.
For the finale Tarun unleashed a line of the most exquisite lehengas and multi kali bridal skirts with velvet detailing and gold motifs. The double drape kali sari with zari and crystals worn by Kiran, the red panelled bridal set with a very rustic touch modelled by Deepti revealed two diverse options in bridal couture.
Menswear was very ethnic with heavily embroidered sherwanis, Jodhpuri jackets, low crotch cowl churidars, jackets teamed with flowing skirts or panelled kurtas and embellishments that moved from tonal to multicoloured for the garments as well as the luxurious shawls. The colours however remained muted with white, rust, black and beige being favoured by Tarun.
Ending the show on a truly high note Tarun had Candice in a red appliqu crystal laden net lehenga choli, Sonal with towering paisleys on the skirt teamed with a short kurti and finally Netra in a magnificent leaf design encrusted lehenga with kurti and glittering dupatta.
The Artisanal collection will linger in the minds of the guests and turn into conversation pieces for years to come; for Tarun Tahiliani can undoubtedly deliver the best of the best haute couture anywhere in the world.
