Fatema from segments of life

 sumitha from http://bebeauty-licious.blogspot.com/

The rules for this award are:

1. Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them in your post.
2. Tell us 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered new bloggers.
4.Contact these bloggers and let them know they've received the award.

 Here goes:-

If you ever meet me in person straight away you will think that I am reserved and that I throw my weight around. Its not true, it takes time for me to warm up to people thats all......

I recently started a new blog. Click HERE to go there if you want to. That's the kind of blog that I wanted to start in the first place, not that am complaining, its just that I love writing and if I had not become a doctor, I would have become a writer!

I am NOT the adventerous type. I hate trekking, snorkeling, scuba diving and all that and never could understand why people like it so much.

I love watching foreign films and I am a movie buff. I can watch any number of movies back to back.

I am a doctor, but I don't want to treat....sounds funny huh......its just that I feel immensely sad when the patient I looked after so well, slips away right infront of my eyes, its a horrible feeling, its as though you are fighting with god himself! So, I plan to take a pg that is para clinical and that would be "Radiology"

I love using colored contacts. I already have 3 of 'em and I plan to add many many many more.

I am a "south indian" and I really and truly hate the derogatory terms being used like "kaala madrasi", and for mostly all northies, all south Indians are "madrasees" and oh ya making fun of the way we talk hindi.....atleast we try yaar, I would love to see all the northies try to speak malayalam, tamil or telugu anyday! (plz, am not trying to offend any of my north Indian blogger friends here, its just that I was in mumbai and I did face some bias as far as my cultural background is concerned. As this is a beauty blog, I would love to innumerate one scenario, whenever I go to some big counters for foundation consultation they immediately tell me, no foundation for your "color" madam, u r a southie na......This came from a person when I asked him whether lancome foundation was available in my shade and for your information its available and my shade is 05. For crying out loud am mac shade nc 43-45!!!!) WTF!!!!.

Let me share a small excerpt from the movie Chak De, where hockey players are coming for registration....
Registrar:-Name
Player:-Nethra Reddy
Registrar:-Are you a madrasi.......
Player:-Telugu
Registrar:-Tamil
Player:- Not Tamilian, Telugu
Registrar:- yup thats it, there is not much difference between Tamil & Telugu rt.........
Player:- (Retorts back) ya, not much, just the way as in a punjabi and bihari
Registrar:- *shocked* (in a good way) OK.......

This is what I am talking about, let the old generation be, lets take our generation and please don't be biased and think that all Southies are madrasis and they speak hindi in the "Chathur Naar Badi Hoshiyaar" way :)

Hey please guys, the above comment was heartfelt and please no bad feelings. I feel that we are all INDIANS first and then comes the regional division and most of all we are humans for gods sake!

Let me present this award to all you new bloggers out there, please feel free to take this award as you all deserve it and all you guys are doing an absolute fantastic job!

I agree with what you said about the bias against south Indians. I've lived in Chennai most of my life & I consider myself to be a Chennaite. But I'm not a Tamilian (my mother tongue is Konkani). I'm shocked at how many so-called 'educated' people say derogatory things about south Indians. People always comment that I seem to have a 'Tamilian' accent. Um...so what? I actually don't have an accent, but what's wrong if I did? Most people have an accent - that of the region they're from. South Indian & proud of it!

Sorry for the rant, but I completely agree with you :P And congrats on the award :)

i agree with what u've said..i had som experiences too regarding the skin color!! They think tht all south indians are black and madrasis.. Before asking us they don't tend to look their own skin color!! Lets dont care abt tht.. :)

I completely agree onn that madrasi part. I am a tamilian from Chennai and was working in Blore for a few months. There I saw certain northies using the word 'madrasi' as a way of teasing their friends. I considered it very cheap and wanted to give them a piece of mind, but refrained from it since it was a work place. They even criticised the S.indian food provided at our accomodation. I still don't understand why ppl are so stuck up with skin color and language. After all, they are working in S.indian place and should be ready to eat the stuff provided and speak in a common language like English. Will they dare to ask the foreigners speak in Hindi and make fun of them?
I do have north indian friends who are very sweet and close to me, but I just hate the freaks who tend to differentiate based on skin color and language.

I totally agree with you about the south indian bias. I mean, the regional thing can't be eliminated, and ultimately, everyone will feel pride in their own region and individual cultures. I'm bengali, and I wouldn't have it any other way, but to go and say one group is better than the other, or one is worse - well, that's just ignorant. People in the past may have done that, but it shouldn't happen with our generation. When people point out the bad things in others, do they not see the bad in their own?? I mean, we can keep pointing fingers - punjabis & agression, bengalis & fish (though I hate fish), gujjus & cheapness, etc. These are nothing but stupid stereotypes.

Thank you. I so agree. Even though I'm a Bengali, i hate it when South Indian people are called like that. its just so racist because normally SI people have darker skin tones which the northies have prejudices against. Its really WTF!
A dpctor who doesnt want to treat. Lol!

I know.. there are ppl who are prejudicedlike that..Why, even when i mentioned to someone that am from hyderabad, the person looked at me as if i'd come from last century... Just because am from South India and from hyd which is not a so-called 'metropolitan city'..

The attitude is slowly changing i guess...

Congrats on the award! And... err... do i consider myself a 'new blogger' just to take the award? :P

Nice thought shared by you :) There has always been this discretion. SouthIndians being made fun of and North Indians being hated for that. At last we are all Indians. Awesome post dear :)
