LOREAL TELESCOPIC MASCARA

I was browsing through the palladium Loreal store and came across this wonderful mascara. This mascara has mixed reviews and some people love it while others don't. Thankfully, I love this mascara.

What it says on the tube:- Magnifies at the base of lashes + Lengthens to the extreme

Lets take a look at the wand

Reminds me of Mybelline Define-a-lash mascara wand. But this wand has a little bit more lengthier spikes. The wand is very flexible too.

Its so sad that my lashes are so sparse and I honestly look scary and practically lashless!!!

After applying 2 coats of the mascara. OK...should I love this or should I LOOVEEEEE this. It honestly makes my eyelashes really long and my lashes are well separated and clump free!

Pros:-

Great mascara that lengthens the lashes like crazy

Great everyday mascara

It dries fast and doesn't smudge or flake unless you accidentally rub your eyes

The lashes look natural

Gives a bit of curling effect to the lashes.

I love the wand that makes it so easy to separate the lashes

The formula of the mascara is really good

No sensitivity issues so far

Cons:-

I don't think it volumises that much. But, honestly am not complaining, come on look at my pics above, I am a human being now! LOL.

The one I have with me now is not waterproof.

Availability is an issue. It has not yet been released all over India and I purchased this from Mumbai Palladium shopping mall.

Price is a bit steep at Rs 650/-

Overall:- I love this mascara and I might repurchase

Recommend:- YUP!

REVLON COLORBURST STRAWBERRY FRAISE

Revlon colorburst lipglosses are amazing and this shade is no less. It really packs a punch and gives amazing pouty lips

I really love the peachy pink shade and it will suit all skintones too.

The applicator is sponge tipped and some people might become a bit iffy about the applicator as its not the regular doe foot shaped one. But I am not one to complain.

Here is the swatch. The color is really gorgeous and has shimmer particles in it.

The shade looks really nice on my  lips and I love the shimmery effect.

Pros:-

Great pigmentation

I love the texture of the gloss. It goes on smooth

The shimmer particles are not at all rough

The gloss lasts for atleast 3-4 hrs on its own and then leaves a beautiful stain

The gloss is very smooth and easily gives a sexy pout

Easy availability

Cons:-

It can alter the color of the lipstick if it is put on top

Maybe a turn off for people who don't like shimmer in their glosses

Price:- Rs.475/-

Overall:- I love it and I like to wear the gloss on its own

 Recommend:- Oh yes!!!

Its a single eyeshadow and the packaging is actually very nice.

Look at the rich brown chocolate color with golden shimmers. Isn't it beautiful??????

Here is the swatch and its just a single swipe!

Pros:-

Amazing chocolate brown color

Will suit Indian skin tones

It stays put for atleast 8 hours straight and I am sure it will last longer

Can be worn without a primer also because its really  pigmented

The primer brings out the color even more

Great for brides and overall bright eye look which is not ever the top

Easy availablity

Decently priced at Rs 450/-

Cons:-

Can't find any

Recommend:-  Oh yes!

Doesn't the shade look gorgeous??? I have also applied a little bit of woodwinked e/s from Mac near the tear duct just to make my eyes pop :)

SMASHBOX PHOTOFINISH PRIMER LIGHT

I have the most oiliest skin ever and putting on foundation was a nightmare before I found this gem! My face becomes an oil slick within the first hour and my makeup starts sliding. After much research I found this product to be oil-free and oily skin friendly and decided to give it a try.

I bought the .5 fl oz tube as I wanted to try it out before shelling out a load of money.

Here is the swatch. You need only the tiniest amount to cover the entire face. Don't use too much as it will start balling up if you do that. I have been using this small 15 ml tube for the past 4 months and I haven't even finished half of it.

Smashbox is a famous cosmetic company and they are known for the primers that they sell. They have a huge variety of primers catering to every skin type and skin concerns. If you have oily skin  try the "LIGHT" version of the primer as I have found it to be really good. The tube comes in 3 sizes, .5, 1 & 1.7 fl oz. The price is also a bit much as the smallest tube costs around 20$ and if not more. The largest tube is around 50$ and shelling that much money on a primer is a bit too much. But, I am sure ladies with oily skin wouldn't mind as its very hard to find a decent primer catering to oily skin needs.

Pros:-

The primer is very very light

It has a watery consistency

Gets absorbed into the skin really fast

A very tiny amount is needed for the whole face

Preps the face for the smooth application of foundation

I don't get any weird smell from this

No sensitivity issues so far

If you get the small tube it can double up as your travel-primer

Photographs well as it doesn't have any spf

Keeps my face matte for atleast 4 hrs

Cons:-

Does not have spf! I would have liked some extra protection from the sun

Availability is an issue as its not available in India(I bought mine through ebay)

Price can also be a turn off for some

Overall:- I really do love this primer and I will definitely recommend this to oily & combination skinned ladies

Repurchase:- Sure!

I am eyeing the Mac primer too as it is great for oily skin and has spf  in it. I might actually purchase that for the mornings as I personally think spf is needed when you step out into the sun.

MY MAKEUP HAUL!!!

Its been quite some time since I got some makeup and that too from mac. My sister gave me a mac  voucher and I decided to use it to get some cool eyeshadows :D

I bought the Mac eyeshadows Bronze, Nehru & Woodwinked. I wanted Sumptuous Olive but they didn't have the refill shadow :( and because of that I didn't want to purchase another random shadow just to fill my palette, so I am going to wait for that shadow :) I also bought Mac stripdown lipliner and its a gorgeous neutral shade. The last purchase from mac was this paint pot called "Quite Natural". I wanted a good primer that I can use on the eyelids as a sheer wash of color and also to build the other shadows and for my skintone I think this looks perfect!

Ok........so, this is not a haul and more like a Chanel foundation sample. I wanted to try out Chanel Vitalumiere and Perfection lumiere so that I can splurge on the right one for me and the SA was really nice to give me a generous sample of both the foundations yayyyyy!!! So, I am going to try which one suits me the best and then buy the one that I love most :)

The last 2 items are from Loreal. The Telescopic mascara and the infallible eyeshadow in the shade "Endless Chocolat". This is definitely one shade that will suit Indian skin really well. The pigmentation is great too.

So, that was my mini haul and will be doing reviews soon. Ciao.

VEDIC LINE SUNNY WHITE WHITENING CREAM

Don't get confused, this is NOT a whitening cream its just a product that helps to reduce body tan. I have been faithful to my Nature's essence Tan clear for so long that I wanted to try out something new.

I love the bright yellow packaging.

I like the fact that its a tube instead of a tub packaging

The product itself is white and watery.

To use:-

Apply proper amount on the body where brightness is to be increased, massage in circular motion until whitening level is achieved, then rinse off with water or wipe with a tissue.

Pros:-

Its from vedic line which has come out with a new line called "vedic line +"

Its paraben free

I have not had any sensitivity issues

The cream is very watery and gets absorbed into the skin after rubbing it in

Has a pleasant smell

Cons:-

Did NOT remove my body tan! So it fails completely

Not that easily available. Will have to order online

Price:- 200 Rs/- for 50 ml

Overall:- It fails to do its job, so will never repurchase

Recommend:- No!

Ok...so this is random........This past week I have been constantly watching this telugu song of Allu Arjun and boy! he is a fantastic dancer and it really amazes me how he twists his legs like that at "1:36" and by the way the song is about losing his lover but never knew how losing your lover can turn into such a fabulous hip hop song lol. See below to enjoy :D

Oh and by the way salman's "Dhinka Chika" song in ready was copied from Allu Arjun's "ringa ringa" song and personally I think Allu Arjun was just fabulous!!! Nothing against salman but Allu Arjun is a better dancer!

CRAFTSVILLA

So many new Indian online sites are coming up so fast that online shopping has become so much fun! Today I want to share with you all a new site that has come up called Craftsvilla.

Craftsvilla.com is a marketplace to "Discover Unique Indian Products" including Handmade, Vintage, Ethnic, Organic and Natural products from India.

India is a beautiful assortment of diversity reflected in our Clothing, Food, Lifestyle, Language, Music, Books etc. This diversity is so rich and diverse that an attempt to capture it on a single platform was never made. Craftsvilla.com is that sincere attempt by bunch of young insane guys and gals who think this is possible now with the Internet.

Craftsvilla -is basically an online store that caters to unique Indian handmade and handcrafted products. The initiative was started in early 2011 by Manoj and his wife Monica Gupta who in the past has also been involved with NGO's such as Kala raksha, Sahaj, etc

It is a venture that is trying to preserve arts and crafts in India. Most of our artisans are being paid poorly because they are forced to sell it to third parties because they themselves don't have the skills or the investments to set shop and sell. These agents in turn sell these items at inflated rates in the market.

Due to low pay, many of these artisans are leaving their professions in search of jobs with better pay put many of these ancient crafts at risk of slowing dying out. In time, we may lose many of these treasured crafts and Craftsvilla is a venture that is striving to not let this happen and help in reviving the arts by connecting sellers directly to global audiences.

Craftsvilla.com is funded by US based Investors: Nexus Venture Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
Craftsvilla.com has also been hailed in the various media including Times of India, Hindu, Economic Times, WSJ etc as the "Hottest Young Company in Handicrafts in India" which is bringing positive change in the livelihood of base level artisans and designers.

They stock jewellery, sarees, bags,Home decor, clothing, Accessories, Home furnishing, bath & beauty, Food & health etc. I checked out their website and it does have some amazing stuff. I haven't made a purchase yet but am planning to snag a few things from their site.

I am loving the feather earrings. They look so unique!!!

LOTUS SUNSCREEN MATTE GEL

I am blessed with the most oiliest face ever and using sunscreen has always been a nightmare for me till I found my Dior sunscreen which I absolutely love and would have been my "go to" sunscreen every single time. But, sadly its much too steep on the pocket and is not easily available :(. I was on the look out for a "budget" friendly and good sunscreen for oily skin and that is how I came across this one :). I think I have hit jackpot this time *grin* *grin*

I love the bright orange tube packaging!

The tube has a flip top and the product itself has a gel like consistency and is very watery. Perfect!

 Pros:-

Absolutely great for oily skin.

Hygienic tube packaging

The product does NOT add any extra oil to the skin ( but mind you it doesn't CONTROL oil production)

Gives a great matte finish which I absolutely love!

Has a light pleasant smell

Has spf 50

Easily available everywhere

Controls tanning

Can be used as a primer too

Cons:-

Price is Rs 225/- for 50 gms which can be a turn off for some. Personally I don't mind that as I use the sunscreen only on my face and thus it lasts atleast a month and half for me.

Overall:- If you don't mind the price tag its an amazing sunscreen for oily & combination skin and people with oily skin will definitely know what I am talking about as sunscreens add a lot of extra unwanted oil on to the face.

Recommend:- Oh ya!

DRY AND DAMAGED HAIR REMEDY

Khurram asked me via email "What is the treatment for dry & damaged hair? I have used many masks but to no avail and can you suggest a solution?"

I thought I would put up this question as a post so that maybe my other readers can also benefit from it. First of all I am NO expert but I would love to share some tips with you all about how I keep my  hair healthy.

Oiling the hair:-

This might seem very old school but believe me it works! I am a keralite, so coconut oil has always been a part of my hair care routine. I must say whenever I wash my hair I put some oil (mostly coconut oil) on my hair and leave it on for atleast half an hour before washing it out. It really gives the hair much needed nourishment and makes your hair soft and smooth.

Find the "right" shampoo:-

Its always important to find the right shampoo for your hair type. If you wash your hair regularly then use a mild everyday shampoo that doesn't strip the hair. I always prefer to use dove or sunsilk as they suit my hair the most. Its a trial & error method. Some shampoos suit your hair and some don't...well....that means I will have to shell out a lot of money till I get the correct one rt?????? Hmmmmm....not necessarily try the small sachets for a week or so and splurge when you think you have found the right one for your hair!

Always condition the hair:-

If you are shampooing the hair then always always always (I cannot stress this enough) put conditioner on your hair! Use a conditioner that moisturises the hair without weighing it down. Make sure that you don't apply the conditioner to the scalp and use it on the ends of the hair the most. Leave it on for a couple of minutes before washing it out otherwise the conditioner won't have enough time to work its magic.

Use a leave-in conditioner:-

If the hair is very dry even after doing the above steps, then its best to invest in a leave in conditioner. A lot of companies make serums & sprays noways which you can apply on the hair to give the extra moisture to the hair. Again make sure you are concentrating on the hair tips as they are the ones that get damaged the most.

Using a hair mask:-

Hair masks are supposed to supplement the regimen that I stated above and its not to be used as a sole product that has the ability to  miraculously transform any hair. No, it doesn't work that way. Dove makes some amazing hair masks and if there is extra money to splurge then try out Macadamia & Moroccan Oil hair masks.

Do an oil massage atleast once a week:-

If you are someone who doesn't have the patience to put oil on your hair every single time you wash the hair  then atleast do an oil massage mixing together a lot of oils (coconut, almond, olive etc etc) and make sure that you massage the scalp properly with the oil and also concentrate on the hair ends. I personally prefer olive oil as its very moisturisng and leaves the hair soft, shiny, silky & smooth.

Get a trim:-

I know I know you want to grow your hair long. But hey, you want your hair to be healthy & strong too right? then, get a trim every 3 months atleast. You don't have to chop off a whole bunch of hair just trim enough to keep the split ends and dryness at the ends of the hair at bay.

Use heat protector products:-

If you tend to blowdry, curl or straighten your hair on a daily basis then stop that. How much ever you use a styling product the daily dose of heat damage will be too much for the hair to bear. Always use a heat protector if & when you have to heat style the hair. Sunsilk has come up with an amazing heat protectant spray and definitely buy it if you don't already have one.

Use a weekly clarifying shampoo & apply hair mask after that:-

A cleansing shampoo is a must if you use a lot of product on the hair. It helps to get rid of all the buildups in your hair and makes the hair squeaky clean. But, let me remind you that it strips the mositure away from the hair so always use a mask after that. Some good cleansing shampoos are Lush Big, Pantene, St.Ives & Redken

Eat Healthy:-

A lot of people forget this. But, eating healthy food really helps your hair. Eat a lot of veggies and take sufficient water and if you have any deficiencies then get it checked out and take appropriate supplements for that. I won't say to avoid junk food but do limit it.

Professional help:-

Sometimes we all need a professional touch if we have abused & taken our hair for granted for too long. If that is the case then get yourself an appointment at the nearest good salon and always listen to what the hair stylist has to say and never forget to give your opinion, after all its your hair!!!

So, I hope this answers your queries khurram and do read My Hair Care Routine if you need to know more about caring for hair. I hope this helps :)

PONDS WHITE BEAUTY DAILY SPOT LESS LIGHTENING CREAM SPF 20 PA++

I have always loved products from ponds and now that they have come up with another innovative product lets take a look into it.

The new cream claims to have the "GENWHITE FORMULA". Ponds Institute made the breakthrough discovery  of a specific gene that determines skin color and created the genwhite formula.

I like the bottle. Its similar to their "age-miracle" line of products.

It is pinkish white and has a mousse like consistency.

What the company claims:- This nourishing non-oily light day cream with the new, cutting edge white beauty GenWhite formula SPF 20 PA++ works deeply to reduce dark melanin production. To lighten, brighten and fade dark spots, while providing instant radiance. Discover spot-less fair skin like never before, within the epidermal layer.

Pros:-

Great cream for oily & combination skin types

Mousse like consistency

Small amount is needed to cover the entire face

Gives instant brightness to the face without making it look ashy

It did reduce my tan to a certain extent

Contains SPF 20

Great day cream

The tub will last a very long time

Cons:-

If you use too much you will have a white cast on the face

Did not reduce my dark spots. The company does specify that it reduces spots on the "epidermal layer" and if your pigmentation is deep set then this cream may not work

It causes really bad sweating if you use too much!!!!

Overall:- Its a great day cream for all skin types and mostly oily & combination skin types

Advice:- Use it sparingly as it can cause excessive sweating in some people. And personally because of the sweating this cream will be great during winter & monsoon as the climate won't add to the excessive sweating.

Price:- Rs 249/- for 50 grams.

If you want to see my review on the Old version of ponds spotless cream go HERE

Disclaimer:- Product sent by PR but that has not affected my opinion in anyway.

VEDIC LINE ORANGE CLEANSING SYRUP

I am using this face wash for the past 1 month and I think its time I posted a review about this. Vedic Line is a fairly new brand that has hit the market and I wanted to try somethings out from the brand and I loved the idea of "orange cleansing syrup". Who doesn't love citrus smelling products during summer? (I had bought this in may)

The bottle is very simple and made of plastic with a flip top. I love the orange color of the face wash.

I have used up only a quarter of it.

The flip top with the nozzle on top gives some control over the dispensed product.

What is it:- The company markets the product as a face & body wash. Its anti bacterial and very gentle on the skin. Removes sweat and odour. Leaves skin fresh and breathing.

To use:- Apply a few drops on wet skin.Gently massage and wash it out.

Pros:-

-I love love love the smell. Its very citrusy and some might claim that its a bit "synthetic" orange smell but I love the smell.

-The face wash really cleans my face without stripping the oil off my face, it was perfect during summer

-Gives some amount of oil control for about an hour

-A very little amount is needed to cleanse the face

-It foams up really well

-Great for oily skin during summer

-Can also be used as a body wash (people who love the smell will definitely love using this as a body wash)

-I did not have any sensitivity issues with this

Cons:-

-Not easily available and I purchased this online.

-100 Rs for 100 ml which I think is a bit steep. Maybe the company has priced the product that way because it can be used as a body wash too.

Overall:- I love the product and it leaves my skin feeling fresh and it smells amazing.

Recommend:- Yes I do! It is a great face wash for oily skin during summer without over drying the skin.

NIKE PINK PARADISE EDT FOR WOMEN

I am here with another summer fragrance review and I know that the summer is already over but I wanted to mention this EDT as I really love it a lot. I purchased this when I was at vizag because I forgot to pack my perfume and this was my savior throughout my vizag trip.

The bottle is very nice and quite huge. 150 ml of edt! That is quite great.

Notes:- Honestly, I can't distinguish the notes in this and I tried finding them online and I am not able to find it :(. It smells very tropical to me. Very Island-"ish".......Hmmmmmm.....is that a word? lol

The bottle contains 150 ml of juice which is a lot and I love the simple glass bottle with the pink & yellow colors fused together. Its very summery and feminine.

It will suit age groups of  women b/w 20-40 and if you are older........well, go ahead and try it. If you like it then who is to judge?  :)

Application:-On the chest and also on the wrists. You can use more that 3 or 4 spritz as it is an EDT and not an EDP. So, you can go a bit overboard with this as its very light.

Smell at first:- Very summery and fruity smell. Reminds me of certain Escada perfumes. It fades down real fast(within 2-3 hrs). It does leave a nice faint smell behind.

Longevity:- Lasts for 3-4 hrs max. I think the heat & humidity in our country is the reason for the fragrance to not last long on the skin. If you are a person who sweats too much then it won't last real long at all.

Projection:- Well, its not something that jumps on to the other person, but definitely the other person will be able to smell it.

Fetching Compliments:- Well, my hubby likes it. Actually he purchased it for me when we were at vizag. I don't know about others as I have been wearing it only for a short period of time.

When to wear it:- In the mornings, summer time, when you are running out to do an errand etc

Is it a gift material & do I recommend this:- Its not a gift material (in my opinion) but people who like summery, tropical smells would love this. If the person whom you are gifting it to loves Escada perfumes then she will definitely  love this. Well, I do recommend this for daily summer use.

Why would you hate this:- If you don't like tropical, citrusy smells then steer clear and also if you are someone who sweats a lot then don't bother buying this as let me remind you its an EDT and not an EDP, so, it won't last long.

Overall:- This is a great summer smell and  if you love citrus smells then definitely  you can wear this all year

Price:-I paid Rs 750/-(they had an offer). Normally it costs around 800 Rs.

NEUTROGENA ULTRA SHEER COMPLETE UV MOISTURE WITH SPF 50+

Whoa.........Now, that is a mouthful right? :D. Anyway I wanted to try this sunscreen out when I first saw the promos. I wanted the ultra sheer non greasy finish that the company was promising.

 What the company claims:-

Provides complete and long lasting protection against UVA/UVB rays and environmental aggressors. Stabilized with patented Helioplex that works like an invisible shield to give you superior protection from skin darkening and signs of premature ageing. In a moisturizing formula that protects against dehydration, yet is oil-free and non greasy. With dry touch technology, it spreads on smoothly to a clean and non shiny finish

Dermatologist tested PABA-free, oil free, does not clog pores.

It contains 30 ml of product and the look of the bottle is pretty sleek.

I like the nozzle tip as it gives some control over the amount of product used.

The swatch of the product. Its actually very light and yet creamy. The "creamy" part can be good for some and bad for some: (.

Pros:-

Neutrogena is a good brand when it comes to its sunscreens
The sunscreen has a lotion like quality
Has a very light, pleasant fragrance
Best for dry, normal or combination skin types
It does not leave a whitish cast
It lasts for quite sometime provided you don't go for swimming or sweat too much. In that case you will have to reapply
I did not tan too much when I was using this product this summer
It has spf 50+
Easily available at all health & glow stores and supermarkets
If you love neutrogena dry touch sunblock then you will definitely love this

Cons:-

Sometimes neutrogena sunscreens have a burning effect on my face but it does not produce any breakouts or rash.
Not that great for oily or extremey oily skin
Does not give a matte look and gives more of a "dewy" look and in my opinion that means adding more oil to my already oily face :O
It seriously makes my skin very greasy

Price:- Rs 349 for 30 ml (which is a bit steep)

Recommend:- Well, oily skinned ladies can give this a miss and it will be perfect for dry & normal skin types.

Overall:- I will end up using the rest of it on my hands & legs and its certainly not going back on my face.

Repurchase:- No. I don't think so.
